leaving high school

It's mad to think that my 5 years at high school are already coming to an end,  I won't lie, I haven't enjoyed most of it because of this and that, but as the end is getting closer and closer and the idea of not actually going to the place I know and feel comfortable with (whether I want to go or not) is kind of terrifying.

Tomorrow (as well as having an exam first thing) our year is having an assembly with all of our teachers, it's shirt signing day and we're supposed to be getting our leavers hoodies. I've been saying 'oh i can't wait to leave' an awful lot but as the day draws nearer I've been regretting thinking that way  - I'm scared for the future, and I know I will end up missing school a hell of a lot!

I just want to say, make the most of it while it lasts, I wish I'd thought like that in years past, because it's 5 years of your life you'll never be able to get back.

Study hard whilst you're at it -  I never really revised much for mocks and little assessments in school, but seriously, start as early as you can. I've done a lot of revision for my actual GCSEs, and as each exam arrives I feel a lot more prepared and confident! I'm so grateful that I worked and also that my parents pushed me to when I didn't want to!

Make friends, lots of them, or even just a few and keep them close, if you fall out, or have arguments, try to sort them out, the causes of them won't mean anything to you in 10 years time - is it really worth breaking a friendship?
However, don't worry if you do fall out with people, you have the rest of your life to make new friends and have amazing adventures.

On that note, go to as many school trips and holidays as possible, whether they're education based or simply for enjoyment, they're the moments you'll look back on when you think of high school, or any time of your life for that matter! Throw yourself into every opportunity you get and I promise you won't regret it.

Last but not least try to enjoy it, some days will be bad days, that's inevitable, but you're lucky to be alive, and to get an education, and remember, after this short period of time, the world is your oyster, go out and explore, pursue your dreams, don't waste your chance, you only have one life after all...
